So when your current situation starts reading like the News headlines, you get the feeling something is not right:
"An overcrowded tourist ferry in Suratthani province, Southern Thailand hit heavy seas while making the crossing from Koh Pangang to the diving Island of Koh Tao"..
Thankfully thats as far as it got, but having the whole boat decked out with lifejackets and a sea of vomit was just great. Neither Jill nor I fed the fishes luckily, but it was a close call. The swell wasn't that big as seas go but 2-3m for a ferry made for the tranquil waters here, and the strong wind causing the boat to list to one side was a bit worrying. The trip was supossed to be 1 1/2 hrs and ended up taking over 3.
Dry land today, we couldn't face the snorkeeling boat trip so we walked the island using a map that had a very loose grasp on reality to the isolated beach on the far side of the island. Or maybe my map reading is a bit rusty.
Tomorrow, perhaps a land based snorkel, then its on the caterman to Chumphon and Bus to Bangkok. Two hulls has to be better than one - right Steve?

two hulls better than one???bunch of vaalies, that's a rough mantra that normally works, a well designed monohull is better than a bad and overloaded cat..and remember that catamarans are better at capsizing too.
