Caves in the MangrovesThe morning was filled with a tour of the mangrove swamps and limestone cave, and rocks jutting out of the ocean. We got about 5 english words out of our Long-tail boat driver in the 4 hrs trip. So not all that informative, But we saw the famous "James Bond Island" which was used in a scene from the Man with the golden Gun aparently.

From the mangroves it was back to Pha Ngan and a bus trip across the country, to Sarrat thani. From here we thought we could catch a ferryto Koh Samui, but ended up beeing shepparded onto a bus driving another 60km and catching a shorter ferry from another peir - just following the crowd and hoping for the best on this one.
Our Trusty Scooter..Getting to Koh Samui at 8pm wasn't ideal. Most places were full, but eventually got a dodgy spot in Cheaweng. Moving to North Cheaweng in the morning to a better spot. Hiring a scooter and driving around the island with Jill on the back. For $200 baht ($6) this is for sure the way to see the island. Saw some more beaches, an inland waterfall and got a feel for the island. Its really built up almost the whole way across and very touristy in most spots. The fresh Seafood barbeque on the beach last night was pretty good!

Now we are on our way to Koh Phangan for New Years and some lazing on the beach. It looks like it could be full too so it might be lazing, sleeping, and living on the beach. Ferry in 10 minutes...

I'm really not enjoying these reports. all of a sudden my 'idyllic cruise up the west coast' looks rather gay. I'll have to spice it up with the saldanha SAP waterwing laying charges against us for theft
