After missing out on the U2 pop tour back in South Africa in '98?. Now was the time to make up for it. It almost didn't happen as we bought the tickets ages ago and the tour was rescheduled by 9 months - to last weekend. So what's better than going to U2 - going to U2 twice. So we went on both Friday and Saturday and weren't disappointed!
The support act was Kanye West - odd choice and pretty ordinary for most U2 fans. With that out of the way the band came on on at 8:45pm and played a two and a half hour set, starting off with "City of Blinding Lights" and ending off with "Kite" while a kite floated up into the sky above the stadium pulled off into the distance by helium balloons - after the 3rd encore. The first concert on Friday began in bucketing down rain, for half an hour, but this didn't dampen the crowd enthusiasm. Bono did his usual plugs for make poverty history (aka the ONE campaign) , Coexisting religions for world peace, and putting politicians in their place. Some new songs, some classics, and some different ones on each night. Even a couple of lines from the Beatles and Kylie Minogue :
| Friday Night | Saturday Night |
| City of Blinding Lights | City of Blinding Lights |
| Vertigo | Vertigo |
| Elevation | Elevation |
| Until The End of the World | Until The End of the World |
| New Year's Day | New Year's Day |
| Beautiful Day | Beautiful Day |
| Yahweh | I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For |
| Walk On | Stuck in a moment |
| Sometimes | Sometimes |
| Love and Peace | Love and Peace |
| Sunday Bloody Sunday | Sunday Bloody Sunday |
| Bullet The Blue Sky | Bullet The Blue Sky |
| Miss Sarajevo | Miss Sarajevo |
| Pride (In The Name of Love) | Pride |
| Where The Streets Have No Name | Where The Streets Have No Name |
| One | One |
| Zoo Station | Zoo Station |
| The Fly | The Fly |
| With or Without You | With or Without You |
| The Saints Are Coming | The Saints Are Coming |
| Angel of Harlem | Desire |
| Kite | Kite |
Some highlights were Bono singing the Pavarotti Tenor part bit in Miss Sarajevo - just like the fat Italian himself! The South African and Namibian flags across the big screen, while the did there plug about Make Poverty History Campaign. Seeing my name scroll across the big screen (after smsing to support the poverty campaign - actually I didn't believe that they could get names from an sms and onto the screen but there it was - and a photo to prove it!). They should have been playing Lemon - "He turns his money into light...."
