Penrith, Gong, and Kangaroo River

In action on the Penrith Grade 3's

Saturday,
Out to the whitewater ex-olympic center at Penrith. And for the first time , I didn't swim! What a record - lots of rolls and falling over, but all good! New paddle and jacket from Canada worked a treat.

Sunday,
The biggest cycling event in Sydney - The Sydney to Wollongong 90km cycle ride. Now for some of you this will be weird. Its not a race but a ride. So everyone goes to start, pays their 60 AUD (R350) and then start riding. A lane of the highway and a route is marked using bike paths and other streets. Fast people go fast, then stop at traffic lights (robots) and when you get there everyone asks each other their times. Which everyone makes up anyway as they all started at different times.Odd..Anyway it was a good ride with good scenery and a nice new bridge hung out over the ocean to ride on. When I got there I turned round and came back (a bit like Forest Gump). So it was a good ride all in all - 180km.

Monday,
It rained. The rivers rose. I skipped afternoon work and headed out with some mates to the Kangaroo River to paddle some rapids. Excellent afternoon out - much preferable to working! Enough water for some fun, a little more would have been super exciting so we will be back!

Paddling the Kangaroo River.
