Oxfam Trailwalker..how not to do it

The Oxfam trailwalker is a 100km walking race around the Sydney bushland held over 24hrs from Brooklyn to Mosman. Here are some tips on how not to do it..

1. Enter 6 months in advance with a crack team of athletes.
2. Do no training or contacting your team for 5 months.
3. Start thinking of training and getting together only to find your team mates have other ideas.
4. Attempt to find out where the course is and run a section or too.
5. With a week to go find some new team mates, check which team mates are on antibiotics / visiting China and decide to race anyway.
6. Get 4 hours sleep the night before the race, wake up late, almost miss the train.
7. Start fast and run like its a 10km race for the first 15km.
8. Drop a team mate at check point 1 (antibiotics and racing = not good idea)
9. Continue running.
10. Eat Oranges
10a. Continue running.
11. Eat more oranges.
11a. Continue running.
12. Puke up Oranges.
13. Somewhere in between run 90km and watch it all fall apart with 5km to go as the lack of training hits us.
14. Finish 100km offroad trailrunning in 16:29 minutes in 10th / 500+ teams at 11pm..

Thanks to the team of Jerry, Dave, Andrew and Kerensa - a fantastic effort and thanks to all the friends and family for helping us raise upwards of $1800 for Oxfam - a very worthy cause.
